Former news-babe wins special election

In a move that backfired on Gov. Branstad, former news speaker, Liz Mathis, won the special election for District 18.

Branstad appointed the previous state senator, Swati Dandekar to the Iowa Utilities Board, giving the Republican leaning district an opportunity to move out of Democrat hands. If successful, it would have resulted in a 25-25 tie and the little dictator, Gronstal, would lose power.

A brilliant move by Democrats to nominate a well-known local news "reporter" with instant name recognition and a big friendly smile. Follow the plan to ignore specifics and don't do anything stupid and she would win.

That worked.

Let the gridlock continue... please.
