Between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Between the Iowa and Cedar. Between the Des Moines and Skunk. I've lived or worked by them all. (Except the Missouri - that one doesn't count.) And fought floods against two of them more than once.
Dang is right, it would have been a sweet gig. More responsibility for sure, but a good pay increase to make up for it. And some intangible benefits that would have made most people jealous.
It was a split decision and I came up as their second choice.
Dusting myself off as there's another interesting position out there.
