Iowa "Intelligence" Office audited

An office created to "pump up the exchange of safety intelligence information" was audited, where it was discovered that almost $67,000 was "misspent."

I think the word is stolen, but let's not quibble over semantics here.

According to the article, charges are not expected against the four who were employed by the Atlantic police department.

If you read the audit, which it is fairly obvious that you didn't, it was simply bad record keeping and misspending.

"Misspending" is just another word for theft. Must have just been an oversight, right?

Checks written for cash? I'm sure none of that went into someones' pocket.

Justify it all you want, but where I come from, people in positions of authority keep records, don't "misspend" and suffer consequences when they screw up or steal.

But I guess in your world, people in positions of authority don't have to suffer consequences for "misspending" or cooking the books.

Oh, I'm sorry, "bad record keeping."
